Craving Compass — Privacy Policy

Craving Compass helps you find food trucks that are parked and live near you, and lets you follow trucks so you can be notified when they go live. This policy explains what we collect and why. If you have questions, contact us at skinners1309@gmail.com.

Information we collect

• Location. When you ask the app to find trucks near you, or (as a truck owner) tap “Use my current location,” your device location is used to center the map or set your truck's broadcast location. Customer location is used on your device to show nearby trucks and is not stored on our servers. An owner's chosen broadcast location is stored so customers can find the truck while it is live.
• Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and an encrypted password (handled by our authentication provider, Supabase).
• Follows. The trucks you follow. For signed-in users these are stored in your account; for guests they are stored only on your device.
• Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store an anonymous push subscription for your browser/device and the list of trucks you want alerts for, so we can notify you when one goes live. This subscription is not tied to your identity unless you are signed in. You can revoke it any time in your browser/OS notification settings.
• Truck & menu content. Information owners enter — truck name, cuisine, description, phone, photos, and menu items.

How we use it

Solely to operate Craving Compass: show live trucks on the map, manage your follows and account, and send the “a truck you follow is live” notifications you opted into. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Sharing

Data is stored with our infrastructure providers Supabase (database, auth, storage) and Vercel (hosting). Push notifications are delivered through your browser/OS push service (e.g. Google/Apple/Mozilla). We do not share your data with anyone else.

Your choices

• Turn off notifications in your browser or device settings at any time.
• Unfollow trucks to stop alerts for them.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing us.

Children

Craving Compass is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above will change accordingly.
